Pre-Season Update

Ryan O-Byrne delivers a face wash in pre-season action versus OttawaWith a 2-2 record and over 50 players given the opportunity to don the CH in a pre-season game, head coach Jacques Martin will chop that number in half for the two remaining pre-season games before choosing a final roster for the regular season. While newcomers Gomez, Cammalleri, Gionta and Spacek have all looked good in their first few appearances there are a slew of young faces looking to crack the big team this year.

There is also the matter of Carey Price’s soft outing against Ottawa the other night and the simultaneously excellent performances from Jaroslav Halak and Curtis Sanford when they’ve played – does Price get the number one spot by default?

Tonight’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins will see the Canadiens ice both the top line of Gomez, Cammalleri and AK and Price as starter in nets – with both Malkin, Crosby and Fleury expected to play for the Pens, this should be an interesting game and could play a large role in Martin’s decision-making.

Regular season in just over a week!
