Tomas Plekanec has been suspended for two games for an apparent slew foot on Edmonton’s Denis Grebeshkov in the Oilers’ 7-2 thrashing of the Habs on Wednesday night. Plekanec was assessed a minor penalty at the time and it would appear that the NHL thought a suspension would be necessary only after Grebeshkov was announced to be out for two weeks with a high ankle sprain.
While I don’t agree with the league’s decision I do think this is a good opportunity for Pleks to sit and work on whatever it is that is hurting him mentally. He’s been sluggish and has shown little heart during this tailspin we’re in and should have been riding the pine for two games at least.
The games missed will be against Colorado and Vancouver. See you next week Pleks!
