On Top of the East

With their huge 2-1 win over Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils on Saturday the Montreal Canadiens have taken over the top spot in the Eastern Conferrence for the first time since 1993 – and we all remember what happened that season. With two lines producing well, great defensive pairings and the hottest young goalie in the league today, the sky really does seem to be the limit where the Habs are concerned.

It’s been 15 years since we’ve had a Cup parade in Montreal and, at the risk of sounding a naive, I’m more optimistic about our chances this year than I have been in a long, long time.
