The boys rolled into last night’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning having gone 4-0-1 in the first five games of this long seven-game homestand and I think it’s safe to say that they expected to win. Thus my excuse for the fact that the Habs seemed to fall asleep after getting the first goal, allowing the Lightning to end a nine game losing skid by beating us 3-1 at home.
There was some emotion, shown in great part by the seemingly angry Vinne Lecavilier as he poked Plekanec in the chest with his stick while waiting for the puck to drop on a face off and ended up taking an unsportsmanlike late in the third. Olaf Kolzig, after allowing a softie to open things up, shut the attempts that the Canadiens did generate down. Halak started again with Price out with the flu – he was decent but the first goal by Martin St. Louis was a bit of a soft one.
Here’s to better things when we host Washington on Saturday – they shut us out 3-0 last time we saw them.
