Habs Continue Winning Ways

I picked a bad week to get too busy to recap Habs’ games, eh? Since the Olympic break the Canadiens have racked up a 6-1 record with wins in their last five games and the only blemish on their post-Olympic record coming via a 3-2 loss in San Jose to the powerful Sharks.

Since that loss Montreal has defeated the L.A. Kings, the Anaheim Ducks, the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Edmonton Oilers and the Boston Bruins to notch the league’s longest currently running winning streak. In seventh place in the conference with a four-point advantage over the Bruins in eighth and five points over the Rangers in ninth, the Habs now have a relatively quiet week with games on Tuesday and Saturday as other teams in the Eastern Conference catch up to our number of games played.

With Jaroslav Halak continuing his excellent play, Andrei Markov in excellent form and typically light contributors like the brothers Kostitsyn putting the puck in the net, the return of Mike Cammalleri (as soon as this Saturday) can only improve our already surging team.

Playoffs, here we come!
