The Habs organization officially announced this morning that they will be holding a pre-game ceremoney on November 22, 2008 to raise Patrick Roy’s jersey to the rafters as the famous number 33 retires. With the contraversy that has surrounded Roy following the now-storied brawl in a QMJHL game, some Habs fans have been less then keen on retiring Roy’s number.
He was my hero for years and I have to admit that I was disapointed to learn as an adult that he’s a bit of a jackass. His attitude stinks, the brawl was a embarrassment to the sport – and he’s one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time. The jersey should already be hanging above the ice in the Bell Centre – like him or not, them’s the facts
Roy will be on the ice before the Canadiens host the Bruins on November 22 – a big moment in Habs’ history, don’t miss it!
