The Vancouver Canucks 2008-2009 Season Start with a bang

The NHL came to a disappointing earnings last year for the Vancouver Canucks, because it fails to make the Stanley Cup playoffs for the second of three consecutive years in a row. Although it is a tight race in competition for Western Conference for a while was, it was ultimately the Canucks' injury-stricken roster, which caused them a playoff slot. Key players Mattius Ohlund, Sami Salo, Kevin Bieksa and Brendan Morrison, all injuries suffered by parts of the 2007/2008 season, so that the team little hope for playoff success.

The off-season that followed, was not much better for the Canucks defeated since started making several extremely important roster changes the headlines. First, in two of the three unsuccessful season Performances was Dave Nonis as the team fired general manager in April. Nonis was with Mike Gillis, a former NHL hockey star replaced in the 70's and 80's.

Only a month and a half later, when things were just beginning to look again, the team lost its most promising young defender Luc Bourdon, to a tragic motorcycle accident. A few days after the death of Bourdon, the longtime captain of the team and long time moral leader, Trevor Linden, officially Hockey Retirement, so many fans in tears. With the departure of Linden, Markus Naslund, the Canucks' all-time leading scorer, announced his own plans leaving Vancouver, he pursued a contract with the New York Rangers. Brendan Morrison Naslund followed a few days later, announcing plans to play the Anaheim Ducks in the years 2008/2009.

Despite their many losses, both on and off the ice, the Vancouver Canucks made several attempts to get back on its feet made and look forward to. Steve Bernier and Pavol Demitra, are among the many new faces, the General Motors Place will grace this year, in Canucks uniforms. Meanwhile, Roberto Luongo, who has grown into probably the best keeper league, was team captain. The event made news in North America, as it marked the first time since 1947, that a goalkeeper was named captain of the team in the National Hockey League.

The Canucks kick off the new season with a fresh, young lineup in place and deep Bags ready for the trade and free agent deadline. In addition, the team has some of the world's most dedicated and enthusiastic fans behind them, cheering every step of the road.

The team is off to an amazing start in the early stages of this season 2008/2009 and the regular season so far. They hope their winning streak in the throughout the remainder of the year and continue into 2009, when they put their past behind them challenges and try to regroup and refocus on those before, in the near future.
