With a fantastic performance from Carey Price and the Kostitsyn brothers the Montreal Canadiens managed to eliminate the Boston Bruins with a convincing 5-0 victory in game seven.
Mike Komisarek opened the scoring in the first period when his slapshot from the point hit a Boston stick and fooled Tim Thomas, but the Bruins controlled the play in the opening period for the most part; a handful of nearly supernatural saves by Carey Price allowed the Habs to maintain their slim lead heading into the second.
The Canadiens came out with a little more jump in the second period and Mark Streit soon increased the Montreal lead to 2-0 with a nice deke on Thomas. Andrei Kostitsyn scored his first of the night from Patrice Brisebois to increase the lead to three goals as the Habs went on to outshoot the Bruins 17-6 in the period.
The third period only served to frustrate the Bruins as the Canadiens killed penalty after penalty and Price made save after save only to see the Habs get another goal from Andrei Kostitsyn on the powerplay with only minutes left. Brother Sergei sealed the deal only a few seconds later to give the Habs a very commanding 5-0 victory over the Bruins.
