Canadiens 4 – Bruins 1

Sergei Kostitsyn scored 34 seconds into the game and brother Andrei followed up with what turned out to be the game winner only 1:28 later as the Habs took full advantage of the Bruins at home in Montreal.

Boston did manage to come within one in the first period as Shane Hnidy tipped a shot from the point through the pads of Carey Price but their offense ended there as the Canadiens went on to outshoot Boston 32-18 on the way to goals from Bryan Smolinski in the second and Tom Koustopolous in the third.

This win not only puts Les Habitants up 1-0 in this first round series but also extends their winning streak against the Bruins to 12, a run that stretches all the way back to the 2006-07 season.
